About STEPS
"Why do I hate myself? Why is my mind hurting me? Why isn’t my own mind my friend? I want to like myself. I want people to like me. I just want to belong."
In my program 'STEPS To A Healthy Mind' I share with young people how I broke free from fear and shyness, which for me was the result of growing up in a violent home. I freely admit that my own past was probably the main reason that I ended up becoming a counsellor!
Using my program 'STEPS To A Healthy Mind', I aim to teach young hearts and minds the Cognitive Behaviour Therapy skills of seeing the thoughts they have of themselves and the truth that thoughts should be proven before they are believed.
'STEPS To A Healthy Mind' is presented in language appropriate for young people to ensure that they understand the methods given to turn around their negative thoughts of themselves.
"I declare a challenge! From now on I will fight for what I think and believe about myself!"
STEPS FOR PARENTS: In my dual approach to teaching, I will speak to your students during the day and at night I can present a narrative to their parents. By using this approach parents can know, practice, and compliment what I’ve taught their child.
STEPS FOR TEACHERS: Your teachers, who see young people every day and interact with them more often than anyone else in their lives, will benefit from hearing how they too can assist their students to break free from crippling self-doubt and inward directed hate.
